About the organization

The critical environmental situation in Iraq and the resulting circumstances over the past and current decades include the militarization of society and internal and external wars, in addition to the deterioration in environmental factors such as water scarcity and the lack of a strategic plan to improve the environmental reality, starting with the lack of a productive orientation and the absence of an educational and educational role in confronting environmental deterioration. The lack of an environmental development plan accompanying the implementation of urban projects, so a group of Iraqi specialists and philanthropists in various scientific and educational affairs took the initiative in order to confront this serious challenge. The conference was held to establish the first establishment of the Iraqi Environment Development and Promotion Organization in the hall of the Youth and Sports Forum in Karbala on 1/5/ 2014, and was attended by a large gathering of media professionals, specialists, and various public groups, in addition to university and school students.

The organization's goals

  • Supporting the democratic process in Iraq through scientific, moral and peaceful means through developing community organizations and assuming their constitutional role.
  • Contributing to improving environmental performance in Iraq.
  • Effective and real participation of the community in performing its supervisory and monitoring role in the environmental aspect.
  • Supporting educational, scientific and environmental efforts.
  • Creating links between relevant ministries and the public to improve the environmental situation.
  • Supporting affected and vulnerable groups in order for them to participate in social roles, such as the project to support the displaced.
